This PROJECT WAS THE RESULT OF INTENSIVE BRAND, MARKET AND HUMAN RESEARCH FOR THE NEW ZEALAND BASED WATER FIXTURE BRAND METHVEN. REVOLVE IS CONCEIVED AS A COLLABORATVE PROJECT AND LOCAL CITY COUNCILS THAT ADDRESSES BOTH TRANSPORT AND ASSOCIATED HYGIENE (SHOWERING) NEEDS FOR URBAN COMMUTERS. THE RESULT IS A NEW CITY BIKE SHARING SYSTEM WITH INTEGRATED SHOWERS FOR LOCAL COMMUTERS AND TOURISTS ALIKE.

The design outputs are a service outline with mobile app, video, graphic and branding for print and for the bikes themselves. Research determined many people found existing city bike aesthetics ‘uncool’ and wouldn’t use them, as well as being sweaty and uncomfortable for the day ahead being a major deterrent from cycle commuting. rEVOLVE’s bikes are fashionable retro cruiser frames with graphics that relate to the culture and vibrancy of each individual city. A combination of textures, non-cliche city brand colours make the bikes unique and recognizable.

The system operates through a GPS enabled mobile app that tracks usage of shared rEVOLVE bikes, with a gamified points system earning free shower minutes. Shower/bike dock units are the size of one standard car park space and may be placed outside co-operating businesses throughout the city. The objective is to encourage a greater demographic of cycle commuters.
